Class Projects

In 12 Days

Leadership Henderson Class of 2016 chose the charity
"In12Days," a unique organization that gives families with children who have lost a parent or close family member, 12 days of outrageous surprises based loosely on the 12 days of Christmas song. The gifts are just a small part of what the organization does. Ultimately, the goal is to bring community back into the family's life in a way that is exciting and overwhelming. The class brought hope and love to a family during December. The efforts did not end there. They helped secure donations through Nevada’s Big Give, assisted on the infrastructure of the organization, and teamed up with Cirque Du Soleil’s Love show by securing tickets where 100% of the proceeds went to In 12 Days.

Henderson Libraries Foundation “Little Libraries”

The Class of 2016 teamed up with the
Henderson Libraries Foundation to help design and construct three Free Little Libraries – a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange program -- for the new Cadence Community in Henderson. The goals of the project was to use Free Little Libraries as a tool to expand outreach of libraries into the community and raise awareness of the Henderson Libraries’ services in anticipation of its 75th anniversary in 2019. The little libraries were designed by class members and architects David Almany and Chris Lujan. Additionally, the Class of 2016 developed a plan which included creating future Free Little Libraries throughout Henderson, hosting book drives to fill the little libraries and coordination of corporate sponsors to keep the program going.
